Is Health and Fitness your Goal? Consider Personal Training
More than 40 years after Kevin Parrott began competing in bodybuilding competitions, he is still competing and still winning. However, today he does much more than compete. He helps others -- men and women, aged eight to 80 -- by guiding, motivating and encouraging men and women from age 8 to 80 to become their best selves and to live clean, healthy lifestyles.
In addition to a full schedule of competitions, he began working as a personal trainer in 1987. Although he qualified to turn professional in the bodybuilding area in 1990, he opted instead to open a personal training studio, Body Sculpting, Inc., in 1991. That private studio was merged with Marty's Gym in Hampton, in May 2006, and Xtreme Muscle Gym was formed. The principles and techniques taught by Parrott and his staff are proven to be safe and effective, and several bodybuilders and female figure champions are testament to his success.
Fast forward to today: Parrott now operates Body Sculpting Personal Training and Xtreme Muscle Gym at 5 West Queens Way, Hampton, VA. Never one to rest on past success, he continues to accept personal clients and appears live on WAVY TV-10 Midday News the first Monday of each month with health and nutritional tips for area residents. The Downtown Hampton Development Partnership is proud to have Parrott and his gym as a member of our business community.
Parrott's Body Sculpting involves strictly personal training by appointment only, but Xtreme Muscle Gym offers individuals the option of training in the company of others in the open gym, while making use of body sculpting techniques. It's a win-win.
Body sculpting involves a fully-supervised training program adaptable for men, women and children, from total beginners to trained athletes. It establishes healthy lifestyle habits that encourage physical fitness, energy, exercise and proper nutrition. Body sculpting helps individuals achieve their personal goals of better health. The program begins with a full physical analysis, including a cardiovascular evaluation, a bodily assessment and measurements; the analysis is repeated every four to six weeks to measure progress. A personal trainer offers support and motivation every step of the way. No contract is required, and fees depend on the extent and the type of service provided.
Some of Kevin Parrott's health tips include:
Take the stairs rather than the elevator or escalator: Give those thigh muscles a workout;
Walk, don't run;
Eat less red meat, order sauces and dressings "on the side" when eating out, eliminate fried foods, exercise;
Always think about healthy choices -- for exercise, diet, and in all aspects of your life;
Drink plenty of water, at least eight glasses a day, and preferably distilled water.
Parrott acts as a personal trainer, motivating and encouraging his clients, and he still competes in, and wins, bodybuilding competitions. He has been married to the love of his life for 23 years, and the couple has two children and five grandchildren.
